how I style: hawaiian shirts

Hey everyone,

I have come with, finally, another video on our channel! Inspired by a recent trip to the Big Island, I styled three of my Hawaiian shirts in a couple different ways each. I hope you like it!

what's in my bag?: beach/poolside edition

Motel Pool
H&M tank // WASTELAND shorts (hidden) // J. CREW hat // KITSON bag

Hello there!
Today I felt extra inspired to make a post on the blog so I decided to do a "What's in my beach bag?" segment. Maybe we can do more things like this? I don't know, but let us know if you like, or dislike it! Okay, here we go!

So what do I bring on a trip to the pool/beach?

A bathing suit and a pair of flip flops is always a given when going for a swim. I usually wear mine to wherever I'm heading, so that it isn't a hassle later. I picked up this bathing suit at Pacsun and I really like the bottoms a lot because I'm a sucker for florals and the pink accents make it less plain. The flip flops are actually from a nail salon, but I don't really care about them which makes them perfect for the beach because I can get them as dirty and sandy as I want.

I like bringing my Forever 21 kimono as a sort of cover up for afterwards. It doesn't do much as one, but I like to wrap it around myself when I'm just lying down. I think the hat is super cute and it protects my face from the sun pretty well which is why I carry it around.

I like to bring water in this really weird cup that I stole from my brother (oops) but since the cup is really small I usually bring another bottle or two just in case. I cannot stress the importance of hydration during this time of year, guys. Drink a lot of water especially at the beach or pool, it's hot, you're sweaty, you may be swimming, and you're losing a lot of water. Sunscreen is also an important thing, of course, to protect your skin, so I use this Neutrogena SPF 45 for myself. Finally, I bring my wallet because I bring my wallet everywhere and you never know what you forgot or need to get.

Lastly, I bring my basic makeup necessities. I bring my Lancôme Dual Finish Powder Foundation and my Estēe Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow Palette. I use the palette's Lavish Mink shadow to fill in my brows, put on the foundation and that's basically it. I also bring my Forever 21 cat-eye sunnies to shade my eyes from the sun.

So that's it for this "What's In My Bag?" I hope you guys liked it and I'll catch you all later.

girl that is totally rad

***Hello, everyone! So I know that we have been ghosts lately, with infrequent posts and long hiatuses, but since it is a new year (okay I'm a month late but you get the point) we are going to try to post more (keyword: try) but we do apologize for our absences. Now onto today's post: It is the type of fashion that makes your parents say, “I can’t believe that’s back in!” Well, they better believe it, because 1990s fashion has made a comeback. From crop tops to skater skirts and knee socks to the ever-present pair of high-waisted shorts, styles and fads from the ‘90s have become increasingly popular in the past few years.

Bloggers Hayden Noel and Evelina Barry, and celebrity Alexa Chung
The era of 1990s grunge was inspired by grunge/punk bands and consisted of oversized flannels, denim jackets, cropped graphic tees, chunky creeper shoes, and acid-washed jeans. I definitely get inspiration from the grunge scene myself, as my go-to sunny day outfit is the printed crop top, bleached high-waisted shorts and flannel combination with my Cherry Red Doc Martens. It is an easy outfit to put together and is, arguably, a street fashion staple.
Band tee: $16, Forever 21; flannels: $10, etsy; shorts: $60, Topshop; boots: $120, Dr. Martens

(Of course if you're not into the whole paying-$60-for-shorts thing, you can always thrift a pair of high-waisted jeans from places like Goodwill for cheap and cut them into your own bangin' pair of shorts.)
Pieces from Wildfox's Kids in America Collection, Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz in Clueless

While grunge fashion may not be for everyone, there are other preppy, Clueless-esque apparel that girls also turn to. Cardigans, long socks, and skater skirts are actually the reason for my existence. Although they aren't always the type of plaid, pleated skirt commonly seen during the time, modern, solid skater skirts paired with a bold, printed tops can be just as stylish, and could put even Cher Horowitz to shame (which is hard to do, because c'mon she is fabulous.)
Cardigan: $13, H&M; top: $46, Topshop; skirt: $15, Forever 21; socks: $13, Pacsun; Mary Jane heels: $150, Jeffrey Campbell

Whether you are into the whole grunge scene, love the preppy skirts, or prefer to dress to the beat of your own drum, I think we can all agree that 1990s fads are going to be here again for awhile, and if people try telling you that your ‘90s style outfits are lame, just say one thing-- ugh, as if!

online shopping haul: etsy & urban outfitters

Hello folks! I hope you're all doing well! I sure am... minus the fact that I am blowing my money on online shopping (but who could say no to the Urban Outfitters sales and mystery Etsy items?).

Now, I'm trying to rationalize here, there's plenty of "reasons" why I should order new things. It's getting to be cold and I need to stock up on layers! I don't have enough of _____ clothing I actually need this! I haven't bought anything online for awhile and it was on sale! Well whether or not I actually needed these new items I got them anyways, and I love every one of them. Here are the things I got:

I got this Kimchi Blue skirt from Urban Outfitters online. It's quite plain, but the embroidery adds a nice touch which is why I love it.
This Rag Union Double Foil Denim Jacket is from Urban, and it was on sale for $30! I love the bold purple color and the jacket has a 90s sort of vibe which is totally rad.

This was my mystery flannel from SASHASHORTS Shop on Etsy! It's over-sized so I use it sort of like an alternative to a jacket.

Aaaaaaaand finally here's my mystery over-sized sweater from SASHASHORTS on Etsy! It's very comfortable and I absolutely love it. Her shop is amazing and her mystery orders are very satisfactory.

I remember a time when I didn't know about the wonders of online shopping (thanks Dana for getting me into it). Oh where the days have gone, but I mean what kind of fashion blogger would I be if I didn't update my closet once in awhile?
