enchantment passing through

Hello!
This past week has been exhausting/exciting/stressful/sleep-depriving with our school's production of Aida (which Dana was in, being kawaii as heck, while I ran around backstage also being okay as heck), but it was all worth it. The cast, crew, and orchestra did an amazing job and every single person was so unbelievably amazing I cried, forealsies.

Anyways, even with all the busy work that went on this week, I had, at least, this outfit to present to you guys. This is actually a perfect example of my love for knee socks and skater skirts:

(Why am I always looking towards that side?)
BUFFALO EXCHANGE thrifted shirt // COTTON ON skirt // CHINESE LAUNDRY knee socks // MERONA wedges // FOREVER 21 kimono // TARGET X PHILLIP LIM bag

These were taken by my friend Christin before the show on Saturday. We had actually missed two trains that morning (story of our lives basically) and so she was gracious enough to take these for me.

I could write a 10,000 word review about how much I loved the musical this weekend but it would not show you how amazing it really was. I WANT TO SHOUT ABOUT IT TO EVERYONE. (But in all seriousness, my friends were all cute and I screamed a lot. Especially during "Dance of the Robe", "Gods Love Nubia" and "Easy as Life". And everything else. HELP ME OKAY I'LL SHUT UP NOW.)

from up on capitol hill

I've been having severe Berkeley MUN withdrawals lately, and my half-awake mind pulled together this business casual outfit in a subconscious attempt to relive my experiences representing Canada in the G-20. (For those of you who've never heard of MUN, or Model United Nations, it's exactly what it sounds like.)

DECORUM
FOREVER 21 blouse // ZARA blazer // BANANA REPUBLIC cords // FERRAGAMO flats

As I've mentioned before, I'm a huge purporter of juxtaposition, be it of textures, colors, fiscal policies... (Aha, another withdrawal symptom.) The contrast between a black blazer and a colorful pant is classically chic, and I am in love with the blazer's structured shoulders yet generally loose fit. Better yet, this look is ridiculously versatile--I can't think of a single occasion for which this outfit wouldn't be suitable. Or perhaps Model UN has skewed my view of fashion forever, limiting me to the pinstripes and grayscale of Western Business Attire.

Is it terrible that I don't mind?

Session adjourned, delegates.

nosebleeds, palm trees, and tumbleweeds rustling

Hello hello!
Spring is just around the corner and with it comes warmer weather, allergies, and more sunlight. I know it is still technically winter, but sunny days have come to California early, and I am seizing every opportunity I can to wear my spring/summer clothes.

(I don't know what's going on here)

FOREVER 21 kimono // URBAN OUTFITTERS shorts // H&M tee // CONVERSE shoes

I have become quite fond of kimonos lately and with spring quickly approaching, I am quite sure I'm going to be stocking up.  I think I have three right now (oops) but they really are the perfect thing to wear on a day that isn't too cold or too hot. The light fabric allows a breeze to cool you down on the warmer days, and although it probably shouldn't be your first choice as an alternative to a jacket on those colder days, it blocks a little bit of wind still.

Today I paired one of my kimonos with a pair of shorts that I was very excited to wear today. What can I say, I have a thing for high waisted shorts and I haven't worn any in months.

Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking: "But sweater weather is better weather!!!!1111!!!1!" Well, to be honest, my undying love for shorts (and skirts) will always trump comfy sweaters. Sorry 'bout it.

Anyways, sorry this is a really short post, but hopefully we'll post something longer soon! (But hey at least we're posting more right? It's a start)

besitos xx,
Daysia
